I can connect with the dead?

It’s Halloween! Normally I’m not a Halloween person, but I figure, why not celebrate something since life feels too heavy lately? So I decided to put on a little costume (guess who I am?) and share some spooky things I’ve experienced since I was a kid.

I also got a bit emotional halfway through the episode, which I totally did not expected šŸ˜… I don’t like to cry in front of anyone, not even the people I’m close to. I’m also very good at controlling my emotions. The most expressive you’d see me is when I’m annoyed or hangry. So it truly took me by surprise when the tears started flowing. I considered cutting this part out since it felt very personal, but I thought, maybe it’s better to keep this in. After all, a bit of vulnerability doesn’t hurt. And I’m not out here trying to pretend like I’m cooler than I actually am.

OOH! I have another paranormal experience I forgot to share. When I was in 7th grade, my family moved to a new house in Chinatown, Saigon (Vietnam). This house was located on a cul-de-sac in a big hįŗ»m (alley). There was only one way in or out, so we were kind of living in a small, semi-private community. Our house had two floors. The living room and kitchen were on the first floor, and we had two bedrooms in the upper floor. There was a staircase in the middle of the house (again with the staircase in the middle - why is this a thing in Vietnam?) The front bedroom was bigger, so it was meant to be my parents’ room. The bedroom in the back was smaller, and because there was window for airflow, my parents decided to install a window that looked out into the staircase (!!!) This room was supposed to be mine, but as you may have learned from listening to this episode, I need sunlight, so of course I wasn’t going to sleep in a small dingy bedroom with no window to the outside world. The room ended up being a spare room, but no one in my family ever used it. I would always avoid going into that room, and if I was in there, I would never look outside the window.

My parents would always go for a late-night snack and because we had school, my brother and I would stay home. I remember hearing footsteps on the roof (!) One night I thought I saw a shadow peering into our window (!!) I was blind af and was deadly afraid, so I didn’t dare try to find my glasses to confirm what I saw. I told my parents the next day, but they thought I was being paranoid.

One afternoon, I was home alone after school. I was used to being home alone so it was just another day for me. It was a hot summer day, so I decided to chill in the front bedroom, because the upstairs area was a lot cooler than downstairs. I was sitting on the floor, and suddenly, the AC turned on by itself (!!!) I immediately froze. Then it turned itself off. THEN IT TURNED ITSELF BACK ON!!!! I could see the remote on the bed, so there was no way I could have accidentally sat on it. I got so scared that I fled the room immediately. Mind you, I also didn’t have a cell phone, so it was just me against the AC at that point. I ran downstairs and sat on the couch sweating bullets not knowing what to do. Thankfully it was still during daytime, so I could hear my neighbors outside. I told my parents what happened when they got home, and again, they were like, ā€œMaybe you just imagined it!ā€

Nothing else happened the rest of the time we lived there. We ended up moving out because we got robbed (!!!!) So maybe the footsteps I heard were from the thieves. After the sold the house, the new owners started doing renovations. We had a small rose garden in front of the house, and no matter how often we watered it, the roses always died. We all chalked it up to us having no green thumbs. When the new owners dug up the garden, they found a grave site (!!!!!!). Apparently, someone was buried underneath the roses, and our realtor never informed us. My brother also told us later on that he and his little friends would see an old lady sitting next to the roses (!!!!!!!!!) I never saw any lady, but as soon as I heard that, it all made sense.

I don’t know the lore behind the lady, but I have a feeling she may have stayed in the back bedroom. The air in that room was always colder and heavier. I thought it was because there was no sunlight, but I always felt spooked whenever I stepped inside that room. And the AC thing, I don’t know. There was absolutely no logical explanation for that. Maybe she was hot so she turned it on? But she felt bad we had to pay electricity, so she turned it off? I don’t know. Moral of the story is, if a child is telling you something weird is happening, something weird is definitely happening. Don’t question them, hire a priest or a monk, and leave the premise immediately. There are some weird things out there that we don’t know!

Anyway, that’s another paranormal experience I had when I was a kid. I'm sharing a few more in this episode. I hope you enjoy hearing my spooky stories!

With love,

Remey
