At Kindled & Grounded Coffee in Napa, California

Weekend in Napa. My 3rd (and final) trip in February!

Hi hi!

I am finally done with traveling this month. OMG. I feel like I’ve been gone forever despite gong on 3 short trips within a month. But 3 short trips means I haven’t spent my weekends at home in a while. Honestly? I think my travel bug is back. I’m finding myself daydreaming/planning oversea trips. I’m really hoping to go on one this year. I don’t have anymore travel plans for now, but who knows, I might be going somewhere this summer. I am definitely going somewhere in the fall. I just haven’t booked anything yet.

Between traveling, I’ve been going to a lot of events in SF. After 2 years of living here, I’m finally exploring the creative scene in the city. There are so many community events popping up around the city, and I’ve been meeting new friends who keep inviting me to more events. I think that’s the key when it comes to socializing - you only need to meet one or two community organizers, and you can get plugged in very quickly. I’ve been running into the same people at these events, so I’m seeing a lot of opportunities to expand and collaborate (which is something I put on my vision board for 2026!)

Like I predicted, the year of the Fire Horse is in full force and it’s moving fast. I cannot believe it’s already March, and spring is right around the corner. I’m excited. I’m not sure where this excitement comes from, but I’ve been feeling this excitement since the beginning of this year. I sense a lot of new beginnings and new doors will be opened this year. And many doors have already opened for me.

I’m also doing a lot of work on the backend to prepare for Season 3. I’m talking investment into this podcast. So branding, strategy, etc. I’m going all in. Well, as much as I can financially. Even though I’m in a seasonal break, I’ve been doing a lot of work in the past few months, and I’m crossing my fingers my efforts will pay off!

Anyway, here are my inspirations for this week. Hope these will inspire you as well!

With love, Remey

Your Dream Job Doesn’t Exist

Cara Nicole

I’ve been reflecting on my career path lately. I’ve mentioned this on the pod, but went through a career change 5 years ago, going from an art world professional to a UX designer. My job in the art world was my dream job. I supported some of the most prominent visionaries of contemporary art, namely Betye Saar and Kehinde Wiley. I collaborated with curators from LACMA and MoMA, and even went to Betye Saar’s studio on a weekly basis to document her catalogue raisonné.

Nevertheless, turning my passion into work led to burnout, and I decided to pivot into tech during the pandemic. I resonate with the sentiments in Cara Nicole’s video. And it’s also the reason why I intend to keep my podcast as a creative pursuit, instead of turning it into a job.

Culture

IRL hobby clubs

Not a real rave, but I do love how coffee shops are putting on these DJ sets. There’s one in SF called HEDGE COFFEE that has a lineup of local DJs every weekend. Now that I don’t go out as often (unless it’s a wine bar or a vineyard in Napa), I really enjoy drinking coffee and reading a magazine while a DJ is spinning in the background. I can dress cute, I can hear what people are saying to me, and I don’t have to worry about hangovers!

Fashion

a new spin on basics

I’ve always loved mixing masculine and feminine pieces. I also love putting a spin on basic items - by playing with textures, proportions, and accessories. I think this outfit is so versatile, like I could see myself wearing this to work, to coffee shop DJ sets, and to brunch or dinner. The best part is, you can DIY/thrift the whole outfit instead of buying new pieces. I’m all about re-imagining my existing wardrobe this year, and will definitely incorporate this look in my future fits!

Music

come again

m-flo

I’ve been feeling so so nostalgic for the late 90’s/early 2000’s sound lately. I’ve been going down the rabbit hole of Japanese hip-hop/RnB, and came across the legendary m-flo. This song brings up feelings and memories that I can’t quite place. It’s definitely been on the rotation for the last few months!
