Remey’s Inspirations 11

Rainy day = Chinese BBQ and dim sum take out!

Hi friends!

It’s a rainy morning here in SF. I need to leave in like 10 mins but wanted to drop a quick note here. I’ve been running from one place to another lately. Season 3 is still on my mind, but I need to find the right time to launch it. I’m approaching this season a bit differently (yay to growth!), while simultaneously navigating some lifestyle changes (which I’m outlining below). New routine equals more time to adjust. Sometimes changes come quickly. Sometimes they come intentionally. This time they came both suddenly but at the right time. I’m doing my best to incorporate these new changes and removing routines that no longer work. It’s a lot to adapt to!

Anyway, I hope you are well. There’s a lot going on right now. I think we all feel it collectively. Make sure to rest and give yourself grace for trying to move forward in these uncertain times.

With love,

Remey

Content

I’ve been taking a break from my usual workouts to heal my tennis elbow. Yoga is now my main form of movement. I also replaced nightlife with pop-ups and community events. I feel like my lifestyle has changed drastically just from those 2 activities. I‘m not sure if this means I’ve officially “retired” from nightlife. I do love wine tastings and an occasional craft cocktail, but I definitely do not drink for the sake of drinking or having fun anymore.

In this video, Tanner goes into how he’s handling drinking (or his lack of desire to drink), which is kind of where I’m at with socializing. Maybe we’re all tired of relying on substance to bond with other humans.

Culture

mail club

Dazed

I’ve been seeing these IG accounts dedicated to snail mail. Think subscription boxes but with art and writing. You subscribe to an artist or writer you like, and they mail you a selection of their work every month. It feels super intimate, and it’s an intentional way to experience art created by another human.

In the age of AI slop and influencers shouting at you on all social media platforms, I feel the culture shifting back to the joy of discovery. Think back to the times when you stumble upon an indie movie, a musical act that only plays at underground venues, or even a local mom and pop restaurant. Not many people know about them, every one is there because they want to be there and not want to be seen there. It feels like you’ve uncovered a hidden treasure.

Fashion

statement earrings

Chan Luu

I love love love a simple outfit paired with statement accessories. Pop on a plain white tee or basic button down, add some big earrings, and you’re ready for work or party. It’s so chic and doesn’t require a lot of thinking, which is how I like to dress. Earrings can also elevate a simple hairstyle and makeup, so you can minimize time spent on getting ready.

Music

Speaking of discovering musical acts that no one knows about. I came across Air France 10+ years ago, when I was at the height of my artsy era (like, I was literally about to go to art school). Air France’s career remained in the underground of Gothenburg, and although they never made it to the mainstream, their nostalgic Balearic beat cemented their legacy as the artist “of that time”. They exist in my mind as many memories of my youth, full of excitement, full of potential, yet unrealized, therefore forever a fantasy.

P/S: They apparently reunited for a festival in 2025, so the memories live on! I don’t think I can do sweaty underground clubs like I did in college anymore, but I’m happy to have experienced their music at that moment in my life.

To learn more about Air France, I recommend reading this blog post and this article from The Line of Best Fit. Thank you to the writers and the fans for building the lore that is Air France.

What “hidden treasure” did you discover recently? What makes you feel connected to it?
