Remey’s Inspirations 09

My makeup corner ft. a very delicious homemade iced latte with cold foam!

Hi friends!

It’s a chilly morning here in SF. I woke up early and decided to stay in bed for a bit. I don’t get to stay in bed often, especially now that I have a teenage boy cat who memorizes my schedule and will act as an alarm clock if I don’t do things at the right time.

I don’t have much going on this weekend and I’m so so happy for it. Weekends with no plans are such a treat, especially now that I’m in an expansion era in my life and finding myself in new experiences. I love that my motivation and curiosity are still there - but striking a balance between activities and rest is the lesson here.

I recently started doing Lazy Sunday, which is literally what is it: I will be lazy on Sundays. No errands, no hangouts, no appointments. I will do the bare minimum, like make coffee and cook, but I’m not doing more than that. And honestly, it was hard! I felt BORED for the first time in a long time. But I noticed I felt more refreshed on Monday (because I was not mentally drained from the weekend) I think a clear separation between the weeks might be the remedy for my burn out (which I never truly recovered from and has been creeping in since last summer). I will try to have Lazy Sundays every other month and will report back!

With love,

Remey

The comparison game. The need to accomplish and to be productive. The desire to be perfect, to succeed at first try. Tale as old as time, now accelerated by social media.

I’m at a place in my life where I’m finding myself having to multitask without much time to process. As a person with a full-time creative career, I understand that processing and reflecting are so crucial to the creative process. I’m very lucky that there are so many opportunities presented to me, and I can go all in on ALL of them if I choose to. But it’s not humanly possible to do everything at the same speed while giving them the same level of care and attention.

This video is a great reminder that social media is a scam, and the whole “I’m rich because I hustle” nonsense these people are drilling to us on these platforms are all just noise that are meant to push their agendas and slow down yours!

Culture

NEVER. I repeat. NEVER in my life did I think I would tune into SOCCER! Growing up in Saigon, I do have fond memories of seeing Saigonese celebrating the World Cup. The Men’s World Cup is treated like a summer festival everywhere outside of the US. Every bars would have the World Cup on and fans would celebrate their team wins on the street.

I do like the energy and unity soccer brings, but I never watched soccer seriously. UNTIL I came across Audrey Nuna’s opening performance for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Australia. I was so confused by all these Asian teams playing against Australia (which I didn’t think was a part of Asia), and that was the start of my soccer-watching career! I am team Nadeshiko Japan by the way! I know they’re playing against the US in San Jose very soon, and I can’t wait to see them competing in the Women’s World Cup in 2027!

Fashion

fun statement bags

Alaia Le Teckel Small Bag in satin - Emerald

I’ve been eyeing this Alaia bag since I saw Peggy Gou wearing it in her street interview with Track Star. Her bag is this light blue leather (which is now quite hard to find). This emerald color is so lush and would look great as a statement piece all seasons. This east-west shape is very popular lately and many affordable brands also carry similar styles.

As I live in SF and the uniform here is very much dark neutrals and Patagucci, I want to bring more vibrance and fashion to my wardrobe. I think a fun statement bag can bring life to a simple outfit. Not to mention a great conversation starter!

Music

Bit of French bossa/hip-hop to calm the mind. I think this song would be amazing in the background on your solo night IN. Not night out. But a candlelit and wine at home type of night.
