Catching up on the USWNT vs Nadeshiko Japan friendly at home

Hi friends!

It’s a sunny weekend in SF! As you might be able to tell from previous posts, SF is really playing with my seasonal depression. One day it’s sunny and hot, the next day it’s raining and chilly again. My mood has been just as up and down because of the weather. I really am like a plant, like I cannot function without the sun.

I’ve began to make small changes to this website. First with the From Remey logo. I’m very excited to continue this rebrand for Season 3. I’ve been pushing the new season because something is not sitting right with me, but I’m very eager to start again. I’m choosing to give myself more time as I’m working on some other stuff that’s taking up more time. Very exciting stuff that I hope to incorporate into my brand. I’ll share more when we’re ready. Here’s a hint: It’s going to be in-person!

Anyway, Shibu woke me up super early so I’m gonna spend some time with him before heading out to a milk tea pop-up. I might wear my Nadeshiko jersey haha. I’m so sad they lost to USA in the Friendly. I really hope Nadeshiko can find a new coach before the World Cup next year. Also, I NEVER thought I would be saying the things I just said. Like who am I talking about soccer to this extent lolol!

With love,

Remey

Content

I love Jemma Sbeg. Even though I might not be her target audience, her content still resonates with where I’m at in life. In this podcast, she goes into what determines someone’s success and the key characteristics of successful people. It’s an interesting pod, especially in this day and age when metrics mean more than the act of pursuing an idea itself.

Culture

Queen of Chess

Netflix

This documentary tells the story of Judit Polgar, a Hungarian Chess Master, whose father trained her (and her sisters) to play chess at a very young age because he wanted to prove that talent can be taught. The Polgar sisters grew up to be incredible chess players, with Judit becoming the youngest grandmaster at the age of 15 years and 4 months. This documentary shows the Polgar family’s discipline and determination to gain victory in the male-dominant and sexist world that is chess. It’s fascinating to learn that there are so many strategies that one has to study and memorize. I think it could have explore more of Judit’s feelings toward the training itself, but it does tell the story of her success very well. A very inspiring watch I would say!

Fashion

jersey and lace

Pinterest

Now that we’re gearing up for the World Cup this summer, I’m seeing the jersey trend coming in full force, especially after ZULAN’s set at Coachella. I just got my Nadeshiko Japan jersey (which I just learned is the same as their men’s team) so I can’t wait to style it this summer!

Music

Yo-Sea is one of my favorite Japanese artists at the moment. He’s also one of the few Japanese artists (that I know of) that is in the RnB lane. This song has a bit of Afrobeat influence, and it’s just so so so relaxing, with the ocean as the backdrop. If a sound could describe my ideal life, this is it!

What is your definition of success? Have you achieved it and how? If not, why not?
