Remey’s Inspirations 15
Picked up flowers and baked goods for Mother’s Day! Spring is here in SF!
Hi friends!
I hope you had a great weekend! If you celebrate Mother’s Day, I hope you had a joyful time with family. Honestly, I don’t know how this holiday snuck up on me, but it feels like I blinked and it’s now May. How is 2026 flying by so quickly?
This is a busy month for me. New work projects, new side projects, and also, new home projects! I’ve been redecorating my home hoping that this would bring me more joy, and it does! I think my brain gets tired of being the same environment after a while, and home decorations introduce novelty without too much disruptions. I now have a little wine corner in my kitchen, which I named Bar Shibu (after my cat because he likes to hang out in the kitchen). I’m also decorating my walls using my New Yorker magazines. It’s a very affordable, renter’s friendly DIY project, and I get to repurpose existing items. I like that I can swap out the magazines, so it’s like a living library. These little projects make me feel more inspired, which is what my brain needs. I can’t wait to show you these little updates around my living room in Season 3!
I hope you’re finding little moments of joy these days!

The Discipline of Being Private While Building in Public
There’s a movement going on where people are going offline and choosing privacy over posting on social media. I’ve never been a social media person, so it’s pretty natural for me to “disappear” on socials for months on end. But I’m also seeing this shift within my circle. Friends who used to post a lot are now posting sparingly, or have taken an indefinite break. However, if you have a business or a hobby that you want to monetize, there is this pressure to churn out content constantly and using your life events as content to keep the audience’s attention.
In this article, Nafisa detailed her journey on navigating the distinction between building an influencer career and building a business, and how social media strategies should be tailored accordingly. It’s an interesting read, as we’re being pushed to be authentic, but what is the line between vulnerability, oversharing, and consent?

Third Culture Kids: Growing Up Among Worlds (Third Edition)
David C. Pollock and Ruth E. Van Reken
I’ve been reflecting on my nomadic upbringing and its impact on my idea of “home”. It’s been 10 years since I moved from Chicago to California (and that’s just one major location change). Within those 10 years, I’ve moved from Los Angeles, to Orange County, and now San Francisco. That’s not including the small moves within each city. I feel most at ease when I’m beginning something new, and I’d feel the “itch” to change my environment every 2-3 years. Sometimes I wonder if this is a sustainable approach to life, but I can’t imagine staying in one place for the rest of my life. This book provides some interesting insights into how TCKs see themselves in the world, and how growing up in multiple cultures can shape how we relate to others.
Fashion
contemporary blazers/suit jackets
I’ve been keeping a close eye on Vietnamese fashion houses and I love love love the creativity that comes from these labels. I love a good menswear piece, and when I saw this set, it was an immediate YES. The softer fabric and the interesting details make this set so approachable with just the right amount of dressy. I really need to plan a trip to Saigon to visit all these labels in person!
