Remey’s Inspirations 17
In her panel moderator era 🔥
Hi friends!
Well well well. The cat is out of the bag. The reason why I had to push Season 3 back is because I’ve got a HUGE event that I’m going to be participating in, not as an audience, but as a HOST!
I’ve always had a fear of being seen. It’s one of the reasons why I haven’t been consistent with content creation even though I started this journey many years ago. This week, I’m facing this fear head on. I will be moderating a panel discussion in front of a live audience, under the spotlight (literally - we’ll be in a theater) and there won’t be any place for me to hide. I definitely won’t have the ability to do multiple takes and edit myself like with my podcast and vlogs.
I’m not gonna lie, I’m a little terrified. Contrary to what you might believe about people who post videos of themselves on the internet, I don’t enjoy having attention on me. In fact, I’m kind of hard to reach in real life. I really value my time, especially my alone time, and will not compromise for anyone except for a handful of people.
I know this experience will be good for me. There's a lot to gain from exposure. After all, closed mouths don’t get fed. I also know this is not as high-stake as it could be. This is my first time being a host for an industry event in front of a live audience, and if I don’t enjoy it, I won’t have to do it again. I’m curious how I’ll feel about it after though.
Speaking of after, I’m going to co-host a virtual discussion on Substack Live that my friend at Tomatokind is hosting the day after the panel. It doesn’t end there - I’m also going co-host another industry event next week!
All it took was me attending 4 events (yes, only 4) and the connections I’ve made have resulted in a series of opportunities. And my network is expanding rapidly thanks to these new connections! It really goes to show that building connections doesn’t have to be complicated. You just need to show up consistently, say hello to at least 1-2 people, express your interest in working together, stay in touch with them, remember to give back (like sharing resources, inviting them to events, etc) and you can build up your network organically without trying too hard.
This goes for making friends as well. Although friendships require more intimacy than professional connections do, the steps toward building new friendships are the same. Say hello, keep in touch, invite people out to things that you all enjoy, support each other by sharing resources or by lending a hand/ear. And accepting that it takes time to find good friends, and even more time to build quality friendships.
Anyway, I gotta get back to my event prep. I’m also trying to immerse myself in the moments leading up to the panel discussion, while looking back on my career path and the decisions I made to get here. Lots of reflection to do, and it’s hard to do that when the outside world demands so much of my attention.
I hope this post inspire you to go out there and try something new. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone and see how far (and how fast) you can go!
With love,
Remey

WIN x SDN: The Futures of Creativity
It’s crazy because I began this year writing on my vision board that I want to meet creative friends and host cool events. And literally in the past 5 months, I met some awesome creative people, and we all ended up collaborating on this panel together. So crazy how fast things can happen when you start working on them. Also, this is another proof that manifestations DO work. Anyway, I really hope this event will be the start of some beautiful partnerships, and potentially something bigger ✨
If you’re a creative looking for a community, or if you want to break into creative industries - either through the corporate route or as a solo-preneur, this is the event for you!

Levi’s 318 Shaping Wide Leg Jeans
I LOVE a pair of cute jeans that are comfy and polished at the same time. Wide leg jeans are flattering on everyone, and it’s a classic cut that can withstand time. These Levi’s are super cute, and you can dress them up or down. I own several pairs of these and I highly recommend them if you’re building a capsule wardrobe!
