Weekend getaway in Paso Robles 🥂

Hi friends!

I went on a weekend getaway with the girls and now feel so so soooo refreshed! This trip was definitely needed. It’s been a while since I last saw my friends as we’re all going through a very busy season in life.

The older I get, the harder it is to make time for my people, which is very sad. As I’m wrapping up these events (for now), I want to actually take it easy this summer. I’ve been swapping my cardio and strength training routine for yoga due to an injury, and I’m itching to get back into working out. Yoga has been a very nice grounding activity as I’m navigating this busy season, and I want to continue practicing it.

I’m learning that it’s nearly impossible to do everything well all at once. There are going to be seasons where I have to prioritize certain areas in my life, and once they’re in a good place, I can focus on other areas. I’m going to prioritize physical health, my creative hobbies, and tending to my personal connections this summer. Summer is the time to relax and have fun after all!

I already got plans for the Fall lol! Fall is when life truly picks up again for me, with birthdays, holidays, and classes (!) Yes, I’m planning on taking classes on some fun subjects this Fall. I’m cooking up a new idea. This one might take a long time to realize.

I almost forgot to update you on my panel discussion: IT WENT INCREDIBLY WELL! I think I may enjoy hosting live events more than I expected. As an ambivert who’s going through an introvert season, it’s hard for me to voluntarily step into the spotlight or talk to a lot of people these days. But I pulled myself together and we all had a great time, including the audience! A lot of people came up to me at the end to say they appreciated how real the conversation was, and it was a nice break from all the industry talks. People are craving more authenticity and humanity in these tech and career events, so I hope to cultivate more of these moments in future events.

Anyway, I’m going to try to relax before prepping for another event next week. So many things to do, so little time!

With love,

Remey

Culture

Career workshops

Service Design Network Mixer

If you need an easy way to network with people in tech, go to workshops. It’s a lot less intimidating to talk to people while working on something together. There are so many events and workshops in SF, especially since SF Design Week is kicking off next week.

Content

No content this week! I’ve been too busy working and living life to know what’s going on!

Makeup

Dior Backstage Face and Body Foundation

Dior

I usually only wear tinted sunscreen (my fave is La Roche Posay) but this foundation is so good! It’s medium coverage, so a lot thicker than what I’m used to, but it’s very buildable and leaves a nice, natural glow.

It does require more tools than just a foundation brush in my experience. I like to distribute it using this Picasso Spatula Brush, then blend it in with a Beautyblender (or any makeup sponge) for a more skin-like effect.

Music

This was recommended to me by Spotify or IG and I’m really hoping it’s not AI. I’ve been very weary of new music, especially by independent artists, which is so sad because new music used to excite me. I love the vibes, and I’m searching for more UKG sounds, so let me know if you have any recommendations!
