Remey’s Inspirations 07

Another beautiful weekend in SF! Debuting my Princess Diaries knitted poncho I recently bought from Ross!

Hi friends!

It’s Saturday morning as I’m writing this. It’s a bit chilly, but the sun is supposed to be out by noon. I’m going to a yoga class around lunch, then I might pop by a matcha pop-up before meeting up with a new friend at the park.

I’ve toned down my social calendar a lot in the past week. Going to 2-3 events during the week and doing more activities on the weekends for months is just too much for my energy level. I still want to put effort into building community, so I’m trying to find a balance between my current commitments, nurturing existing connections, and incorporating new experiences. Sounds simple, but it’s a lot to juggle now that I’m in my 30s. Nevertheless, it’s a good challenge to have, and I hope I can find a new routine soon.

With that being said, I hope March is treating you well! Below are some of my inspirations this week.

With love, Remey

What to Do When You Don’t Know What to Do With Your Life

Note to Self

I came across Paytain Sartain’s video “How to Become a Full-Time Blogger | How to Start a Blog & Make Money” back when I was still living in LA. I had just began exploring content creation, and was gaining some traction before I had to put it on pause due to lack of financial resources. I actually spoke in detail in this episode from Season 1 .

Paytain is the one of the very few influencers who I occasionally search up. It’s interesting because we’re very different people. The only similarities we have are: we’re both oldest daughters, we’ve moved around a lot since childhood, and we care about our money and careers! I think she strikes a good balance between keeping her content relatable (by sharing details on her personal and career journey) while maintaining professionalism (which, in my perspective, is selling products and partnering with brands) In this episode, she shared how she got started with her podcast with limited resources, which I thought was very valuable.

Culture

Hobby meetups/classes

There’s a movement going on where people are trying to stay offline by picking up hobbies, especially hobbies that can connect them with other people. As an adult with a mostly remote full-time job, I’m finding myself seeking out classes where I can make physical things without using digital tools. I think this will be my new weekend side quest, once I get my weekday side quests in order!

Fashion

crochet poncho (bonus points if it’s sparkly!)

Edikted

I remember being 11-12 years old, going to the mall with my mom, and seeing a collection of tween clothes that were clearly inspired by The Princess Diaries franchise. They were too expensive for us at that time, but the pink poncho that Anne Hathaway wore in The Princess Diaries 2 has stayed in my mind after all these years.

I recently found a white sequin poncho at Ross (pictured above) and I was so happy I found THE poncho I’ve been searching for since I was a kid. As I’m trying to bring more whimsy into my life, this poncho represents a version of me that I treasure, and I feel like I’ve healed my inner child in a way. It’s such a fun, versatile piece, and perfect for Spring/Summer in SF! The best part is, you can totally DIY this if you know how to crochet.

Music

In my orbit

Ivoris

Ivoris is an Australian artist that Spotify put me on recently. I actually don’t know if she’s signed or not since I can’t find much info on her, but I love her girly lo-fi bedroom pop sound! It kinda reminds me of NewJeans (RIP), but dreamier. It actually reminds me a lot of Humming Urban Stereo’s sound from their earlier days. Not as electronic-y, but with similar soft vocals and romantic vibes. Wow, this just unlocked a very distant memory (and feeling) in me!

Write me a note below!

Do you have any Spring “traditions”? Does your routine change with the season?
